HaptX VR Gloves

OMG, I just found the best thing ever. Of course it’s not released yet lol

VR gloves, guys, GLOVES!!! I’ve read some reviews and from what I’ve read they are the best thing ever. Guys who did the review tested them and they were able to grab and move all kind of objects, feel raindrops, touch and feel textures in game, feel bugs crawling on their hands and do all kind of other amazing things. I just can’t wait for this to become available!

They don’t look quite practical to me but lets hope they’ll work on that before putting them on the market.

Yeah not quite ready for consumer prime time but definitely exciting as that’s something that will definitely become mainstream in the next 10 years or so for sure!

I agree. Looks pretty awesome but we have to wait and see how practical they’re gonna be.

Plexus has just announced some new haptic gloves that look very promising!

Just saw another cool set of gloves – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha2gtpXKboI

This is a pretty good write-up for those who can’t watch a video right now – https://www.ethz.ch/en/news-and-events/eth-news/news/2018/10/dextres.html

I love the idea of using electrostatic potentials to limit movement – a lot less power and equipment needed!

Just checked out the plexus video – wow!! As much as I love seeing physical-feedback gloves, the streamlined design with haptic drivers at the fingertips (probably vibro motors?) looks great, and should definitely give enough feedback for our brains to know what’s going on.

I’m really excited to see more development when it comes to physics interaction with designs like this – will users prefer pure physics-based interaction, or will it be better to have objects stick to the user’s hands a little bit? This sort of hardware development is driving tons of cool psych and design research!

I think it’s time to start saving for this. Have a feeling it will cost a fortune.
